            14  Annual Inter School Debate

"Speak clearly, if you speak at all; carve every word before you let it fall." - Oliver Wendell Holmes Sr.

In today’s world of effective communication, the art of debating is a crucial skill. It fosters not only the ability to express ideas but also encourages critical thinking and teamwork. Recognizing this significance, the Interact Club of Kulachi Hansraj Model School in collaboration with Rotary Club of Delhi Garden City hosted the 14th Annual Inter School Debate at India International Centre, Max Mueller Marg, Lodhi Estate, New Delhi. The exhilarating 2-day event showcased the talent of young debaters from 16 reputed schools, which ensured stimulating competition.

Day 1 began with the lamp lighting ceremony in order to mark an auspicious start. The event was graced by honorable guests President Ms. Rani Sohinder Nabha, Vice President Ms. Renu Gulati, Secretary Ms. Jyoti Dhir, Rotarian Mr. Vivek Katariya, Rotarian Mr. Pramod Grover, Past President Ms. Anita Bhardwaj, Mr. Shayer Majumdar, Alumni of DPS Chandigarh and past best speaker Mr. Ayush, and our club coordinators Ms. Seema Lal along with Ms. Ritu Salil.

The first round started off between Shri Ram Millennium School & Modern Public School and Bluebells School International & DL DAV Shalimar Bagh. Throughout the day, as many as 8 debating rounds were held in respective conference rooms. The teams delved into complex issues, dissecting them with analytical precision. They argued, countered, and rebutted with grace and confidence.

The event also included invaluable feedback sessions. Judges provided constructive criticism, helping students recognize their strengths and areas for improvement.

As the finals drew close, the competition grew much more intense on day 2, with just 6 teams  left to compete.

As the event drew to a close, Ramjas International School was announced as the winner. The winning team was awarded with a cash prize of INR 10,000 each speaker. The awards for the Best Speaker were given to students from Genesis Global School, DPS RK Puram and Gyan Bharti School.

Yet, it was clear that every participant was a winner, having gained a wealth of knowledge and the confidence to articulate their thoughts effectively.

The 14th Annual Inter-school Debate was not just a competition; it was a celebration of eloquence, critical thinking, and the power of words. It reinforced the idea that debates are not battles to win but opportunities to learn, grow, and elevate our understanding of the world. We express our heartfelt gratitude to respected Principal Ma’am Ms. Sneh Verma, for providing us with this opportunity and constantly supporting and guiding us.
